Merriman Holt Powell Architects (MHPA) – Project Architect

MHPA is seeking a highly qualified Project Architect (PA) with 10-15 years of experience in professional practice. Licensure is strongly preferred. The PA should have abundant experience in our market sectors, which includes churches, schools, and other not-for-profit clients. The PA should have very strong design and technical abilities, excellent project management practices, and excel in a team environment. MHPA is located in the Highland Village area of Houston.

Position Responsibilities:

The Project Architect will lead and manage teams from Schematic Design through construction to design, document, and facilitate the construction for selected projects by working closely with our clients, consultants, and construction trade partners. The PA should be highly skilled and experienced in order to collaborate effectively with MHPA leadership and mentor junior staff to provide a high level of design and technical accuracy. The PA will work within our team-oriented culture where the firm works collectively to serve our clients to the very best of our ability.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of professional experience in architecture, with significant experience in the church, school, and other not-for-profit sectors.
  • Licensure is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent design and documentation skills.
  • Extensive project management experience.
  • Superior communication and organizational skills with strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead and manage project teams.
  • Proficiency in Revit is required, along with Sketchup, Bluebeam, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office.
