Wood Rot Repair Workshop

Presented by the AIA Houston Historic Resources Committee
In partnership with Preservan and Luckie’s Pocket

Space is Limited to 16 participants

About the Workshop

Step inside a piece of Houston’s history for a hands-on, two-day Wood Rot Repair Workshop focused on repairing wood rot with traditional patching methods.

Hosted at the 1919 historic Luckie School, this workshop is a rare opportunity to gain preservation skills in an active rehabilitation setting. The Luckie School—currently being reimagined as Luckie’s Pocket, a future community arts space—serves as the perfect backdrop for exploring time-tested techniques in material conservation.

Led by experts from Preservan, attendees will work in small groups to learn and practice traditional wood repair methods essential for preserving historic structures. This immersive experience is ideal for architects, preservationists, craftspeople, students, and anyone with an interest in hands-on building conservation.

The workshop includes 2 full day’s of guided instruction and a closing site tour with Houston artist Gonzo247, who is helping lead the creative revitalization of the site.
