Masonry Workshop
Masonry walls are not all the same! What repair methods are appropriate for the masonry wall system on your building?
Join AIA Houston’s Historic Resource Committee (HRC) for a masonry repair workshop to learn more about masonry wall systems, and appropriate repair methods. Nick Floyd and Glynnis Flaum from SGH will provide a short presentation to discuss the fundamentals of masonry systems (including differences between mass masonry, transitional masonry, and veneer/cavity wall systems common today), performance expectations and repair guidance for each, and some repair example case studies. Following the presentation, Restoration Services, Inc. (RSI) will lead hands-on workshop stations for some common masonry repairs like repointing, patching repairs, and remedial structural anchors.
Get ready to have fun and get your hands dirty!
