LORI RYKER
​Principal and Founder, studioryker

Lori received a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University, a Master of Architecture with Distinction from Harvard Graduate School of Design, and a PhD from Texas A&M University.

She lives in Paradise Valley, Montana, between Livingston and Yellowstone National Park. She is the founder and principal of studioryker. Her studio is committed to an atelier style work method that holds design, environment and clients in a three-part relationship that inspires and grounds her practice.

Lori received Tenure at Montana State University and has also taught at Louisiana State University, Texas Tech University, Texas A&M University, The University of Texas, and other universities across the country. In 2011 she held the Marie M. Bickham Chair in School of Landscape Architecture in the College of Art and Design at Louisiana State University.

Lori has both a professional and pedagogical background in design/build. Through Artemis Institute she founded Remote Studio (1997-2015), a design/build immersive education semester in the Yellowstone region offered to university level students that focused on design, conservation and ecosystems, poetics, and expanding architecture’s responsibility beyond humancentric needs.

She is a co-recipient of grants from the Graham Foundation and the National Endowment of the Arts. She is the author of three books, including Mockbee Coker: Thought and Process. Lori has been an invited lecturer across the United States and abroad, and has published on her professional work, art and pedagogical research.

JACK MURPHY
Executive Editor, The Architect’s Newspaper

Jack Murphy is Executive Editor of The Architect’s Newspaper. Previously, he was Editor of Cite: The Architecture and Design Review of Houston and Adjunct Professor at the Gerald D. Hines University of Houston College of Architecture and Design. He earned an undergraduate degree in architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a graduate degree in architecture from Rice University. He has worked for award-winning architects in New York City, Houston, Austin, and Boston. His writing has appeared in Places Journal, Dwell, Architectural Record, The Architect’s Newspaper, Texas Architect, Cite, PLAT, Paprika!, New York Review of Architecture, The Houston Chronicle, and SF Gate, among other publications. He was Co-Editor-in-Chief for PLAT 7.5 Oversharing and PLAT 8.0 Simplicity and Assistant Editor of Totalization, edited by Troy Schaum and published by Park Books. He lives in Brooklyn.



JESUS ROBLES, Assoc. AIA
Principal, DUST Architects

Originally from the Southwestern United States, Jesús Edmundo Robles Jr spent much of his youth traveling the landscapes between Southern California and Texas. He studied architecture at Texas Tech University, earning his Masters of Architecture in 2003. Upon departure, he cut a unique path to expand and hone his craft, gaining over 15 years of architectural design, project management, construction and construction management experience. He studied under various craftsmen and architects, honing his sensibilities and skills as a finish carpenter, designer and builder. This time spent would greatly influence and form his virtues towards the craft of architecture.

Jesús is a Principal at DUST Architects, an award-winning studio grounded firmly in the tactile, in pursuit of the intangible. The studio, as well as teaching, explore ideas and ethics rooted in a reverent intimacy with craft and place through endeavors into the essential and the timeless.
