Committee on Architecture for Health

This committee meets on the third Thursday of every month at noon.  The meetings are hybrid and held at various locations.  Please contact rhonda@aiahouston.org if you are interested in joining.

The mission of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Academy of Architecture for Health (AAH) is to “improve the quality of the healthcare environment by promoting, through our members, excellence in healthcare architecture.”   The purpose of the AIA/Houston Committee for Architecture in Health” (CAH) is to implement the mission and goals of the AAH on a local level.

The AAH’s and our beliefs are:

  • Knowledge is power, and we should identify resources to advance, maintain, and disseminate knowledge.
  • The quality of the built environment plays a major role in the quality of healthcare.
  • We, as architects, are essential to the development of quality healthcare environments.
  • It is essential to create links among all those involved in the building delivery system to achieve quality healthcare environments.
