GPD is currently seeking a Project Architect for our Houston, TX office location to support on K-12 Education projects.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Architectural Designer or Registered Architect with 8+ years of experience. Experience with Education-based projects a plus but not required.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
Experienced in design and development of construction documents and specifications.
Revit/BIM experience required.
Building survey and assessment experience preferred.
Experience with overseeing projects through construction including field observations, managing submittals and Request for Information from the field.
Experience with coordinating with external and internal engineering disciplines.
Strong understanding of construction documentation and administration. Experienced and comfortable working self-sufficiently.
Demonstrates a collaborative approach and ability to work within a team environment.
Must possess experience in coordinating with internal teams, including project planning, scheduling and tracking.
Must possess excellent communication skills, professional writing skills and the ability to multi-task between several projects and priorities simultaneously.
Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Valid Driver’s License is required.
Responsibilities will include:
Leads the architectural design and documentation of Education projects working with the Project Manager.
Participates in the design and creative development of projects.
Oversees other architectural designers in the completion of projects. Mentor and provide guidance to junior architects and designers.
Schedules resources in support of the project per the deadline.
Meeting and communicating with the internal team and clients as required.
Due diligence including planning approvals, permitting research, submittals, and follow-up.
Project status reports and conference calls.
Construction administration including field visits, weekly status reports, submittals and RFI tracking.
