Lighting Designer

Position available for an architectural lighting designer who thrives in a  collaborative, creative office environment. Ideal candidate should have 2+ years experience working in architectural lighting design or related field such as architecture or interior design, should be comfortable working on multiple jobs at a time while balancing deadlines and should have excellent skills in communicating design concepts graphically. Candidate should be able to handle day to day project management with minor supervision. We work on many prominent projects in Houston and beyond and work with many of the top architecture and interior design firms in the state and country. Major Functions of the Position:

As a small design firm, no one here is pigeonholed into one role—we all do a little bit of everything. You will assist in a range of functions for the firm including, but not limited to:

-Project management, including client communication and meeting attendance.

-Design decisions and input as well as specification selections.

-Production of drawings and details in Revit or CAD.

-Production of Schematic Design graphics, design charrettes, renderings, website updates, and other marketing graphics.

-Production of specifications and lighting concepts.

-Running photometric calculations and providing studies for various lighting schemes.

-Site visits to document existing lighting conditions, focus fixtures after install, etc.

-Interaction with lighting manufacturer representatives and assistance with evaluation of fixture samples, including site mock-ups. Visits to lighting manufacturer factories may occur.

-Opportunities to provide feedback on firm operations, design strategies, graphics, and public outreach.

Qualifications:

Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Lighting Design or related field.

2+ years experience in architectural lighting design or on project management in a related field, though skills and personality are more important to us than specific numbers.

Strong proficiency of Revit, AutoCAD, Excel, InDesign and Photoshop a must. Knowledge of BIM 360, SketchUp, Lumion, HTML, and photometric softwares not required but a plus.

Good communication—written, oral, and graphically–is a must.
