In 2011\, Mindel was awarded the prestigious Cooper Hewitt National Design Award by First Lady Michelle Obama in the White House\, and in 2021\, was one of the few professionals inducted into the AD100 Hall of Fame for contributions in both categories: Architecture and Interior Design. The AIA award-winning space\, designed by SheltonMindel\, celebrates the intersection of art\, architecture\, and design with a diverse series of exhibitions featuring international artists\, galleries\, and movements. Galerie56 reflects the deep American ethos of inclusion and diversity. \nMindel has served on various AIA committees for 4 years\, and has been a juror of AIA Awards in the Architecture and Interior categories for 3 years. \nMindel received his Master of Architecture from Harvard University in 1976 after obtaining his Bachelor of Arts\, Cum Laude\, with Distinction in Architecture\, at the University of Pennsylvania.  \n \n  \nSally Walsh Lectures are supported by an endowed fund of the Houston Architecture Foundation. \nThe lectures are dedicated to the memory of one of Houston’s most distinguished interior designers\, Sally Walsh\, who brought modern design to Houston and became an inspiration to a whole generation of Houston architects and designers. \nAll Sally Walsh lectures are free and open to the public.
